Elephant Learning has created a metric called Elephant Age that makes this easy.
Elephant Age is the quickest way to assess your student's progress in the app, and you can find it on the top right of the dashboard. Think of Elephant Age as your student's real math age. Although the Elephant Learning system's milestones connect to state standards and Common Core, these standards can vary widely in what they assess for each grade level.
Elephant Age is a quick one-number metric that is not connected to a specific grade level but instead to an average of what children generally know at that particular grade. For example, if your student is generally performing at a first-grade level, they'd be showing up as a six-year-old or higher in Elephant Learning Years.
The Elephant Age records where your student started in the app and continues to track their progress as they pass specific mathematical concepts or milestones. Every time your child passes a milestone, the system recalculates their Elephant Age. You and your student can easily visualize their current level of understanding.
What is significant about an Elephant Age is the trends you see over time. It can help you understand how the student is doing, and how they are progressing. This, in turn, engages both students and parents in the learning process.
These trends are also tracked for you in the Elephant Age graph. This graph demonstrates your child's progression by providing you with an up to date graphic showing you the changes in your child's Elephant Age.
