The Worksheets in Elephant Learning are a great tool to connect the concrete mathematics that children are doing in the games to abstract written mathematics.
The worksheets are built live using the activities that our algorithms have determined should be fed to the students. Because of that, the questions should always be at the exact same level as the games. However, the worksheets do not contain live action, nor do they update the algorithms.
As your students solve the activities, you may notice that we show written mathematics on the screen to connect the concept to the abstract written mathematics. For example, “Give me 5 unicorns. Give me 4 more unicorns. How many unicorns do I have?” shows 5+4=9 on the screen after the student has solved the puzzle either correctly or incorrectly. The worksheets may have problems such as 5+4 =_. Some children may not have connected the concrete to abstract and this is an opportunity to help the child solve the problem without showing them how to do it. You can actually use the activities to help children understand that the concepts are connected to see if they can figure out the answer.
